NYSC explains why corps members are yet to receive June allowance

The National Youth Service Corps has explained why there is a delay in the payment of June allowance to corps members.    According to NYSC management, it completed all arrangements for the payment since June 27. The service corps said the delay being currently experienced is due to the administration of funds by various banks who are yet to credit Corps Members’ accounts.   NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, said in a statement;   “The Management of National Youth Service Corps wishes to state that it is aware of worries and agitations by corps members over the delay in the payment of their June 2023 monthly allowance. “For the avoidance of doubt, the scheme completed all arrangements for the payment of corps members’ allowance since June 27, 2023, and remittances were made the same day to various banks accordingly. “The delay being currently experienced is due to the administration of funds by various banks who are yet to credit Corps Members’ accoun

Girl, 3, dies after being found in washing machine

A three-year-old girl has died after being found in a washing machine in France.   According to the Le Parisien newspaper, the girl was found alive in the washing machine last night, Jan. 12.   She was then rushed to hospital where she died in emergency care an hour later.   Her father and another family member reportedly discovered her in the machine during dinner.   The household appliance hadn’t been turned on but had doors that shut automatically, Le Parisien reports.   Prosecutors say the girl had been at home in her family’s apartment in Paris’s 20th arrondissement.   Authorities in Paris are investigating, with a special unit for the protection of minors leading the investigation.

Third suspect charged in rapper Young Dolph's murder

A third man is now facing charges in connection with the shocking murder of rapper Young Dolph eight weeks ago, officials revealed on Wednesday January 12. Shundale Barnett, 27, has been charged with being an after-the-fact accessory to the deadly daylight ambush that ended the revered rapper’s life on Nov. 17, U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller said at a press conference.  According to Miller, Barnett was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over at a truck stop just outside Terre Haute, Indiana, Tuesday afternoon amid a national manhunt for Justin Johnson, 23, the Memphis man identified last week as the subject of a first-degree murder warrant in the Young Dolph case. Johnson was behind the wheel and taken into custody without a fight, Miller said. “Shundale Barnett is a person who, we believe, was providing assistance to Justin since we’ve been looking for him,” Miller said, adding that Barnett was being held on a state warrant in Indiana pending extradition to Shelby County, Tennessee.  Young
